Visions of Christmas are dancing in my mine.  My dear friend Beth Teel grew the beautiful paper whites in the bowl.    They were such great models and held their heads high.

There are so many types of Roses and cabbage roses are my favorite but this time of year it is only the store bought type.  Off to the market to purchase the assorted bunch of colors to add variety and spice this year.  The bunnies have been eating my pansies that I recently planted but a few are still smiling.  They were added this year to add a little extra Christmas Cheer.  May you days be merry and bright.

In Texas we have a saying about our fall.  Green to Brown leaves on the ground.  That is pretty much how fall goes in Texas.  So paint quick for inspiration.  When starting this piece I did a layer of textural effects to give the painting more depth.

Wild Sunflowers by artist Pat Meyer

Earlier in the week I painted the sunflower models and they were all so well behaved and acted like the perfect sunflower models.  After listening to rock and roll music and having the nice cool breeze of fall come into the studio they started looking a little wild.  So before they wilted I decided to paint their portrait like they are now.  Wild!

Some days you just love to have some quiet in your life.  This morning I arrived in the studio to see my Sunflowers still staring back at me.  Well there is packing, shipping, blogging, contracts and framing.  These are all non painting activities.  The Sunflowers are waiting quietly in the corner saying, come paint just a small something to make you feel good.  They are such wonderful models I just could not resist.  So this small floral appeared.  Now off to tackle all of the other things but the soul is soothed.

Here it is fall and all the warm color abound.  These wonderful yellow sunflowers always seem to warm up any room they are located.  The abstract background allows their beauty to show through.
