This piece was just entered into the National Bold Brush Competition for the month of April.  Hope the judges like it.  The bright yellow bloom against the abstract purple and orange background.  Pulling in the undertones of orange color in the flower I thought the balance of the oranges would provide harmony.

Sometimes a flower at the nursery just Wow's you and this one certain did.  It's bright yellow bloom with dark green leaves just made it stunning.  My heart skipped a beat.  Never really seen that many double begonia blooms.  Big and beautiful compared to a regular begonia bloom.  Isn't God's creations just beautiful.

This was day 2 of painting the snowball bush.  The first day when painting the bush I did a smaller more of the color zone of the actual flowers.  Today I wanted to use artistic license to create a vibrant bush.  Pushed the colors to more of the sherbet color zone.

My Great Grandmother Grove had the most beautiful snowball bush that ran down the driveway side of the house.  We as kids would pull the big blossoms off the bush and play with them.  It use to upset her and now I know why.  The bushes are so beautiful and blow in the wind so gracefully.  On Friday I took the opportunity of the glorious day to paint outside in the backyard of my snowball bush that I planted in her honor.  This is the first of two paintings that were done this weekend of this delightful bush.

This time of year the flowers are starting to peek up in the garden.  This Iris is blooming and was calling out to be painted.  My Mom gave me several bulbs from her yard and this white one bloomed this year.  What a blessing to have my Mom's Iris all the way from Tennessee.  A little Tennessee in the my yard.

Sometimes when you do a painting it is almost complete but after sitting in the studio for a week or so you determine that some adjustments need to be made.  Adjustments made to this rose garden scene.  The roses are flowing all around with all the different colors enter twinning to create a flow of flowers abounding.

Along the Road Side by artist Pat Meyer

While driving down the road looking for the perfect spot to paint these lovely roses and flowers caught my eye.  That danced like sugar plums dancing in my head.  The layers of colors where so delightful that I tried capturing them in a short time frame.  The old tree was the rugged balance needed for the painting.

Alway love to see how collectors frame their art and where they place it.  This collector has a beautiful transitional dinning room and she framed the art in a wonderful floating frame.  It was just perfect for both the art and the room.  A big thank you for sharing and collecting!

Transitional commissions accepted.

Never Promised You a Rose Garden by artist Pat Meyer

Last week after teaching my workshop these colorful roses were left over.  Well off to the studio to become models for a landscape rose garden painting.  My favorite rose was the white one going away from me with all it's little brown spot areas.  It is like allot of us with character.  When choosing models I will always go with the person that has more character to their face and personality.  They have more of a story of life to tell.  Which is your favorite rose and ask yourself why.
